Poker
Poker
tables, a little alcohol, and walking the strip a little too late.
Tournament Poker
When I'm not at a desk, I'm probably in a tournament somewhere, waiting for the blinds to go up, drinking something lukewarm, trying not to look at my phone.
Part-time, still hooked. The dry version, if you want it, lives on Hendon Mob.
Why Poker?
Because it asks you to sit still with incomplete information, and then make a decision anyway.
The math is there, the people are there, and every so often someone does something that makes you rewrite the whole table. Also, it's fun, which I keep forgetting to say out loud.
My Vegas Tours
I like Aria the most. The room just sits right, and I always end up staying later than I meant to.
Venetian has the best beverage bar, I will die on this hill. Long walks between properties, too much AC, and the usual promise that tonight I'll go to bed early.
My favorite players
Xuan Liu, because she makes it look quiet. And Daniel Negreanu, because he never stops talking to the table, and somehow that's part of the point.
“Poker is a hard way to make easy money.”
Xuan Liu
“You can be competitive without compromising your integrity — taking chips doesn’t make you a bad person.”
Xuan Liu
“The majority of players are looking for reasons to fold. I am looking for reasons to play.”
Daniel Negreanu
“Everything that’s said at a poker table is worth listening to.”
