Renee Jia

Hey there! I’m Renee, a Research Engineer at Meta working on Large Language Models and Large-Scale User Sequence Modeling.

What I Do

I’m passionate about AI research and work on:

  • Large Language Models: pretraining, fine-tuning, distillation, large-scale user behavior modeling
  • Natural Language Processing: dialogue systems, information retrieval
  • Graph Neural Networks: user representation learning
  • Reinforcement Learning: multi-agent systems, procedural content generation
  • Recommendation Systems: personalization and CTR prediction

I love exploring how AI can understand and model human behavior through massive amounts of data. There’s something incredibly exciting about building models that can learn complex patterns and make sense of user sequences.

Background

Previously worked at Google and Amazon Alexa AI on natural language understanding and recommendation systems. I was also a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University and University of Waterloo, where I had the opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers in AI and machine learning. It’s been quite a journey seeing how AI has evolved over the years!

Beyond the Code

When I’m not thinking about AI models, you might find me:

  • Teaching snowboarding as a PSIA-AASI Level 1 instructor
  • Playing tournament poker (check out my results at Hendon Mob)

Always excited to chat about AI research and share ideas! Feel free to reach out.
